We love local history and decided to make a limited edition reproduction of an 1860 Beadle Dime Novel to showcase the uniqueness of Oro Valley, AZ. Beadle Dime Novels were the predecessor to comic books and provided an escape for Civil War soldiers who carried the “pocket novels” with them during the toughest times. These first, comic books would shape our current perspectives regarding the American West and start the “manifest destiny” boom that drove Americans to settle in unique areas Arizona (like Oro Valley). This periodical would go on to create the western legacies of Buffalo Bill, Deadwood Dick, Kit Carson, Davy Crockett, and many more. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Oro Valley Historical Society and Steam Pump Ranch.
Dimensions: 20 x 30
